New adventures in Australia. We flew from Seattle to
Los Angeles, then to Sydney and via Perth to Broome, Australia.
A beautiful beach town similar to what Hawaii would have
been like fifty years ago. Cable Beach is wide and sandy,
the waters of the Indian Ocean impossibly turquoise. We
stayed at the Cable Beach Resort which is one of our favorite
spots ever.
Four
day camping adventure into the Kimberleys with ten other
people in a huge Izusu truck. Dirt roads, little civilization,
tenting under the stars, surrounded by wildnerness. Hiked
through amazing gorges, especially Windjana, Manning, and
Bell. Swam in creeks and billabongs and literally shared
them with fresh water crocodiles which are obviously not
dangerous since I am sending you this e-mail. Details later.
Back
to Cable Beach, then a few days of visiting tourist places
such as the Willie Creek Pearl Farm. Then rented our own
car for the drive south to Perth. We spent last night at
Port Hedland, are now in Karratha, bound for Exmouth, then
Monkey Mia to swim with the Dolphins. We may also drive
south of Perth to the Margaret River region before flying
from Perth to Melbourne where we will take our Austin Healey
convertible on several short drives down the Mornington
Peninsula and perhaps up to the Murray River regions.
We will
fly home from Melbourne to Seattle On September 17.
Hello
to all. Will appreciate e-mails
(beved@msn.com) from anyone who reads this. We will
send details later.
Love,
Ed and Bev
